SAIs of Ukraine and Latvia signed
the Agreement on Cooperation
On October 23, 2009 the Chairman of
the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine
Dr. Valentyn Symonenko met with the
delegation of the State Audit
Office of the Republic of Latvia
headed by the Auditor General Mrs.
Inguna Sudraba.
Dr. Valentyn Symonenko and Mrs.
Inguna Sudraba exchanged views and
discussed ways of strengthening
cooperation between both SAIs.
Members of Latvian delegation were
acquainted with the ACU Board
activities and met with its
members.
By the end of official meeting Dr.
Valentyn Symonenko and Mrs. Inguna
Sudraba signed the Agreement on
Cooperation between the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine and the State
Audit Office of the Republic of
Latvia. The Ambassador of the
Republic of Latvia Mr. Atis Sjanits
was also present during the signing
ceremony.
Both parties agreed about taking
further steps towards practical
implementation of the Agreement and
deepening cooperation both at the
bilateral level and in the scope of
EUROSAI и INTOSAI in which both
SAIs actively participate.
Moreover, the ACU Chairman Dr.
Valentyn Symonenko pointed out that
auditors have to assess 17
Ukrainian-Latvian intergovernmental
agreements with the purpose of
finding among them "the weakest
points" and to initiate conducting
parallel audits of selected
agreements.
